Putnam County School District proposes revitalization plan, includes closing five schools

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — The Putnam County School District proposed a new plan to close five schools while opening nine new schools within the next 10 years.

The proposal is to improve the district economically and help resize the district.

However, parents at E-H Miller, one of the schools expected to close, are concerned because this is the only school in the county that has specialized instructional courses for special needs students.

Putnam County superintendent says that he is working on a plan to accommodate these parents need.

The plan would be effective at the end of the year and parents have expressed their concerns over what will happen to move their students into new facilities.
