Woman killed, child injured after car crashes into tree in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — A woman is dead after her vehicle crashed into a tree on Denver Road around 4 p.m. on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Her 8-year-old passenger received minor injuries.

The woman was traveling in a sedan headed eastbound on Denver Road west of Old U.S. Highway 17 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle veered off the road and onto the north grass shoulder.

The sedan continued on the grass shoulder before it collided with a tree and came to a stop.

The woman, a 35-year-old from Crescent City, died from her injuries. The woman and the child were not wearing seat belts.
