Four Putnam County schools were on lockdown Monday, according to Putnam deputies.
James A. Long Elementary, Moseley Elementary, Jenkins Middle School and Palatka High School were on a modified lockdown at about 11:20 a.m. Monday following a stabbing at a nearby home, deputies said.
According to authorities, James Young, 28, stabbed a woman around 7 a.m. then barricaded himself in a home on East Lake Street in Palatka.
The condition of the woman is not known at this time.
Putnam County Sheriff's Office said members of their special operations team used tear gas after learning Young had cut himself several times.
Deputies said Young was treated by medical personnel and taken to an area hospital.
