Record: Over 600 new COVID-19 hospitalizations reported in Florida

FLORIDA — Florida health officials reported 5,409 new coronavirus cases and 225 new COVID-19 deaths in the state on Wednesday.

The state’s total case numbers have now reached 502,739 with 7,627 deaths, according to the Florida Department of Health’s COVID-19 Data and Surveillance Dashboard.

Officials said 362 new cases of the virus have been reported in Northeast Florida, including 181 new cases in Duval County.

Locally, Union County saw its largest spike in cases with 32 reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases to 259.

84 of those cases are from inmates.

A record number of 621 new coronavirus hospitalizations were reported statewide.
