Report: Cocaine found in bra of teen accused of selling cocaine at Bartram Trail High School

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A 15-year-old girl is facing charges for allegedly selling cocaine at Bartram Trail High School.

Deputies say a baggy of drugs, cash and a straw were all found in her bra.

The student is charged with two felonies after she was allegedly caught selling cocaine at school. The St. Johns County School District said that's a high-level infraction and their discipline committee will be reviewing it and could take further action. Action News Jax is not identifying the student because of her age.

After getting a tip, the dean searched the 15-year-old girl and found the items. According to the report, the cocaine was in a bag in the girl’s bra. Cash and a straw were also found. The girl told the dean the white powder was cocaine and she had been selling it at school. Deputies say the substance tested positive for cocaine and the girl was arrested.

Larissa Bull, a student at Bartram Trail High School, was surprised by the arrest.

“I haven’t been confronted with any of those so I was kind of surprised to hear that something like that would happen at Bartram,” Bull said.

The St. Johns County School District sent us a statement that reads in part:

“We are taking the appropriate steps on school-based consequences. … This Level 4 infraction is one of the most serious breaches of student conduct within the district.”

Action News Jax is told the discipline for a Level 4 infraction could include suspension, placement in an alternative school and/or expulsion.

“You know I didn’t believe it,” Tom Donovon, a parent of two Bartram Trail students, said about the arrest. “I’m definitely going to talk to them … at least my freshman, he’s the most vulnerable.”

A spokesperson for the district said they hope all parents will talk to their children about this incident in order to keep all students safe while they're at school.
