A woman is facing child neglect charges after police say she left an infant in a hot car at a Jacksonville hospital.
A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office report says someone notified an off-duty officer around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday that two children were left unattended in the parking garage at Memorial Hospital.
The officer drove to the top floor of the garage and saw a child wandering around, according to the report.
The witness then told the officer an infant was inside the car.
The report says the officer approached the car and found the infant in a car seat in the back seat. The child was soaking wet from sweat and smelled like she had soiled her diaper, according to the report.
The police report says it was 85 degrees outside and the car was parked in direct sunlight. It was not running, the report says.
Based on the child's medical condition, the officer rushed the infant to the pediatric emergency room of the hospital, the report says.
The report says the child's temperature was 100.7 degrees and she had soiled her diaper.
The other child was taken into the hospital but appeared to be in good health, the report says.
The JSO report says surveillance video showed the vehicle was parked in the sun at 10:44 a.m.
The report says the suspect checked herself into the hospital for treatment. The officer says she was napping in a lounge chair inside a hospital room when the officer found her.
Esther Primach, 29, was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect.
