Report: Corrections officer arrested in Bradford County after admitting to sex with minor

A state correctional officer was arrested in Bradford County after he admitted to having sex with a minor multiple times, an arrest report says.

Leith Sullivan, 35, told authorities he never forced himself on the girl and would stop when she said so. He was arrested on Monday after investigators interviewed him and the teenage girl.

Investigators said Sullivan is "known to the family."

The girl said their relationship started when she was living in Orange Park in August.

The girl said she moved to Jacksonville to live with her grandparents and Sullivan came in the living room and started to touch her and had sex with her.

The report says the victim asked him to stop but he kept going. She said that Sullivan sexually assaulted her again on Dec. 27 and Dec. 30 after she moved to Bradford County with her parents.

In an interview with investigators, Sullivan said he fell in love with her and it was completely inappropriate.

Sullivan said he knew it was wrong but never forced himself on the girl.

Sullivan was taken to Bradford County Jail and charged with sexual battery.

Sullivan worked as a correctional officer and was hired January 2, 2015, according to state records.

Investigators said Sullivan might have committed other crimes in Jacksonville and are reaching out to other jurisdictions for confirmation.
