Restaurant Report: 48 rodent droppings found at Ho Ho Chinese, inspectors say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Health inspectors found the following violations at Ho Ho Chinese restaurant on Lem Turner Road at Gandy Street in Jacksonville, causing it to be temporarily closed:

  • 48 rodent droppings
  • raw animal food stored over ready-to-eat food
  • a wall soiled with accumulated grease

Elsewhere, New York Pizza Company located at Palencia Village Drive and U.S. 1, was cited for:

  • potentially hazardous food temperatures
  • a mold-like substance in an ice machine
  • an employee with no beard guard

Inspectors say Mr. Dragon Chinese Restaurant on San Juan Avenue near Jammes Road had:

  • potentially hazardous food temperatures
  • food stored on the floor
  • the food manager certification was expired

Viva Authentic Mexican Restaurant on Faye Road near Alta Drive was cited for:

  • an employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands
  • potentially hazardous food temperatures
  • encrusted material on can opener blade

All restaurants mentioned have since passed follow-up inspections.
