Restaurant Report: Jaxon Social in Jacksonville Beach restaurant closed for pest control issues

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. — Jaxon Social, on Beach Boulevard in Jacksonville Beach, has been closed since July 18. A health inspector counted 24 live roaches, 35 dead roaches, and no documentation for parasite destruction for smoked salmon.

Brian Lee is a former cook at Jaxon Social and he said the roaches are a huge problem.

"If you open one of the refrigerator doors and pop open the seal, they fall out like, it's like you've torn the corner off a bag of Skittles. It's disgusting," Lee said.

Jaxon Social was shut down and has had more than seven inspections since it was closed, but because of pest control issues, it remains closed. We'll update this story next week to let you know if it's able to reopen.

At Abuelita's Cuisine in Lake City, a health inspector saw a rodent nest, counted eight rodent droppings, and counted two live and two dead roaches. Abuelita's was temporarily closed, but reopened after the follow-up inspection met requirements.

At Tacos Meche on Beach Boulevard, inspectors found 14 live roaches, four dead roaches, and the restaurant was operating with an expired license. It was temporarily shut down but met inspection requirements during a follow-up inspection.
