Salvation Army awarded $5,000 grant from Mayo Clinic Community Contributions Program

Jacksonville, Fla. — The Mayo Clinic has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Salvation Army in support of their program Groceries PLUS which works to provide nutritious food, hygiene, and baby items to those in need in the Jacksonville community,

The grant comes from Mayo Clinic’s Community Contributions Program.

“The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida is so appreciative of receiving funding from the Mayo Clinic Community Contributions Program,” said Area Commander Keath Biggers. “These funds will enable us to provide nutrition, health, hygiene, and wellness to the families we serve daily at our Towers Center of Hope shelter located in downtown Jacksonville.”

In Jacksonville, The Salvation Army’s Towers Center of Hope includes a shelter for women and families, low-cost housing for men, a community food pantry serving 1,000 households each month, and a meal ministry that serves a hot meal to the hungry every night of the year.
