Second person charged in murder of Jacksonville toddler Aiden McClendon

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Action News Jax has learned another person has been charged in the January 2016 murder of 22-month-old Aiden McClendon.

Kquame Richardson, 18, of Jacksonville Beach, is charged with murder in the second degree, two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and shooting or throwing deadly missiles, according to records from the State Attorney's Office.

Richardson was charged and arrested in March, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Inmate Search records.

In March 2016, Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams announced that Henry Lee Hayes, 18, an alleged member of the Problem Child Entertainment gang, was charged with Aiden's murder after he allegedly opened fire on a car that had the toddler and two of his family members inside on Jan. 29, 2016.

Sheriff Williams said Aiden was an unintended target in a shooting fueled by rap video taunts between two Jacksonville street gangs.

Police said Aiden's cousin Reginald Williams, a member of the Out East gang, was in the front yard at the time of the shooting and was likely the shooters' intended target.

On Friday, Hayes was also charged with violation of the RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations) statute and conspiracy to violate RICO. Richardson is also facing charges of violation of the RICO statute and conspiracy to violate RICO.

A source tells Action News Jax that a JSO news conference on Thursday afternoon will involve someone connected to Aiden's death. JSO said Wednesday afternoon that 10 arrests in a yearlong investigation of a criminal street gang will be announced at that news conference.
