Sheriff on mom of missing Jacksonville girl: 'We need for her to cooperate with us'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said Thursday that the mother of missing 5-year-old Taylor Williams is no longer cooperating with investigators' efforts to find her daughter.

"Initially Taylor's mother, Brianna Williams, was cooperative with the investigation. She has since chosen to stop cooperating with us. And here's what we know: We know Brianna Williams was the last one to see Taylor and we need for her to cooperate with us."

When investigators began talking to Brianna Williams about inconsistencies in her statements, that's when she stopped cooperating.

When asked if Brianna Williams is considered a person of interest in her daughter's disappearance, Sheriff Williams said "Nothing's off the table."

Sheriff Williams said investigators do not believe that Taylor walked away from the Brentwood home where she was reportedly last seen.

"We do not believe that she walked away, that her daughter walked away, so we need her to cooperate with this investigation to help us find her daughter," Sheriff Williams said of Brianna Williams.

The Sheriff is also asking for people who have seen Taylor Williams with her mother Brianna Williams in Jacksonville in the past 6 months to come forward.

"We're still asking the public's help with providing us any additional information about Taylor's whereabouts," Sheriff Williams said. "Specifically, we are asking that anyone who has seen Taylor and Brianna Williams together in Jacksonville within the last six months to reach out to us and let us know."

Anyone who has seen Taylor and Brianna Williams together in Jacksonville in the last six months to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office at (904) 630-0500.

Brianna Williams was arrested on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

On Wednesday, Nov. 13, a warrant for Brianna Williams details what led to charges against her in the disappearance of her daughter, Taylor Rose Williams.

She is facing two counts of child neglect.

A neighbor who lived near Taylor and Brianna Williams told detectives he saw Taylor alone and wandering the apartment complex multiple times.

The warrant says he first noticed Taylor alone on April 17, 2019.
