ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A St. Johns County man was arrested for attempted murder after he allegedly beat his ex-girlfriend so severely that she had to be flown to a Jacksonville hospital for treatment.
Steven Jonathan Dobish, 34, was arrested late Friday afternoon after he took a 31-year-old woman with serious injuries to Baptist South Hospital then left, deputies said.
Friends of the victim tell us she has two small children and was dating Dobish.
Her injuries were so severe that she was flown to UF Health Jacksonville for further treatment.
A witness got Dobish's car and tag information at the hospital and gave it to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies went to Dobish's Wynfield Cr. home and took him into custody.
Detectives got a search warrant and collected evidence at his home.
They questioned Dobish, who deputies said was arrested last month on domestic violence charges. He was charged with attempted murder and booked in the county jail.
