St. Johns County stranger tried to lure girl by using dog in car

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said a man in his 60s tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car on Corunna St. in St. Augustine Beach on March 19.

The girl said she was waiting at the house of a friend when a male drove up in a grey Honda Civic and asked her to come pet his dog.

The dog was a a brown or blond Yorkie wearing a pink harness with white polka dots. The dog's name was Pixie and was seen in the vehicle, the girl said.

The man is described as a white male in his 60s with short gray hair, brown eyes and gray-colored stubble on his face.

“It’s frightening for me,” said parent Ashley Hollis. “That makes me want to constantly keep an eye on my kids.”
