ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A deadly hit-and-run crash left traffic at a standstill for hours on I-95 in St. Johns County Wednesday morning.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the crash happened just after 4 a.m. on I-95 South near mile marker 331, just past the rest stop in St. Johns County, and near Race Track Road.

According to FHP, a pedestrian was hit and killed. Based on their initial investigation, troopers believe the man, who is in his 70s, wandered off from the rest stop and was struck by either a tractor trailer or multiple cars.
