UF vets remove shoe from crocodile UF veterinarians removed a shoe from 10.5 foot, 341-pound Nile crocodile, named Anuket. This happened back on Feb. 5 when a zipliner at St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park shoe fell off in Anuket's exhibit. Anuket was seen eating the shoe and regurgitating it. Vets at UF tried to flush out the shoe at the Aligator Farm but were unsuccessful. One of the vets, Dr. Garrett Fraess, a zoological medicine resident, tried to remove the shoe by reaching up and through Anuket's esophagus but was not successful. The third time around, the UF medicine team took the Anuket into surgery, and their efforts also failed. Finally, the fourth time around, Dr. Adam Biedrzycki, performed gastronomy and was able to remove the shoe. Anuket was able to return back to her exhibit shortly after.
