ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Approximately 1,850 students in St. Johns County are still waiting to receive an internet hot spot from the school district and they’ll need to wait a little while longer.
Internet hot spots are on back order.
After a trial week last week, online instruction officially began this week in St. Johns County.

Teachers are contacting families who have yet to receive their hot spots to give those students paper assignments in the meantime.
The St. Johns County Public Schools District said it has ordered 4,000 T-Mobile hot spots.
Those devices are mostly for students who are using the EmpowerED program.
According to a school district spokesperson, a T-Mobile sales representative told the district it has more than 100,000 devices on back order.
The demand for online education causing back orders nationwide for carriers like T-Mobile.
St. Johns County expects a partial delivery to arrive next week.
