Woman’s husband dies in St. Johns County due to Coronavirus ‘This stuff will kill you’

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The wife of a St. Johns County man who died from the coronavirus is speaking only to Action News Jax reporter Ben Becker about how the disease took away the man she loved.

Glenn Shivers,67, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, according to his wife Judy.

“What do you miss most about him?” asked Becker by phone. “Everything, he was my best friend,” said Shivers who would have been married to her husband for 30 years this November.

“He had no clue where he had gotten it from, no one he knows is sick, no one he works with is sick, no one he has been in contact with is sick, just him,” Shivers said.

She says her husband was vulnerable because he had an autoimmune disease. He first went to an urgent care where he was diagnosed with walking pneumonia, but when breathing issues persisted he went to Baptist Medical Center South where he was diagnosed with COVID-19.

Her husband’s death has hit Shivers and her neighbors hard. As a show of support, they used chalk to write messages of hope and prayer on the sidewalks of their St. Johns County neighborhood.

Shivers, who is symptom free but self isolating, has this message for others who are still out and about.

“Keep your distance, this stuff will kill you,” warns Shivers.
