The highly-anticipated State Road 9B extension into St. Johns County may not be completed until September, the Florida Department of Transportation said.

The highway appears to be almost completed, but FDOT said there is still a lot of work to be done before commuters can begin using it.

Crews still have to put up signs, roadway lighting and traffic signals, and progress is dependent on good weather.

The road, which will feature an exit near Race Track Road and County Road 210, is expected to dramatically improve the commute times for people who live in northwest St. Johns County.
