A stray bullet entered the living room of a local Jacksonville family through the ceiling over the weekend.
It landed just feet from where a three-year old girl plays with her toys.
The toddler’s mother believes it was from New Years’ celebratory gunfire this weekend, and now she’s worried about her daughter’s safety.
“God gave her to me to protect her and raise her the right way, and I feel like I can’t protect her living here,” said Alfreda Wright.
She showed Action News Jax the hole in her ceiling.

Police collected the bullet and are investigating,
Wright says she and her daughter heard the shots, but fortunately, they were in another room at the time.
She wants to send a message about the danger of celebratory gunfire and show first hand that innocent lives may be at risk.
“There are no words to describe it,” said Wright. “Right now I’m very much heartbroken. I feel like I’m incapable of being able to do anything about the situation.”
