Suicide prevention: Out of the Darkness Jacksonville Walk

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Out of the Darkness Jacksonville Walk is taking place from 10 a.m. to noon at Treaty Oak Park on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Anyone who would like to participate can register in person at the walk from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Registration is free and open to the public. Walk donations are being accepted until Dec. 31.

When you walk in the Out of the Darkness walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy and support survivors of suicide loss.

Thanks to walkers and donors, the AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate by 20% by 2025.

Walk route

The walk route is a 2-mile paved walk through downtown Jacksonville. The route is accessible to everyone, including those with strollers and wheelchairs.
