Sunday's Jags game will be slightly cooler but still very warm

Jags fans planning to go to the game this Sunday should be in for another hot afternoon.

The Action News Jax First Alert Weather Team is forecasting temperatures of 85-88 degrees. That’s 7-9 degrees lower than last Sunday.

While the 1 p.m. game will still be hot, it won’t be as hot as the game against the Patriots, which will go down as one of the hottest NFL games in recent history.

Last Sunday, the ‘feels like’ temps reached into the triple digits.

For some fans, the heat was too much. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said 77 people were treated for heat-related issues.

This Sunday Charles Wolfe said he has a plan.

“You got to drink a lot of water, try to alternate yourself from the sun to the shade frequently,” said Wolfe.

Senior Manager of Fan Experience Sarah Mathis said there will be plenty of cool areas at TIAA Bank Field for fans.

“We are going to have two JTA (Jacksonville Transit Authority) buses at the bottoms of ramp 1 and ramp 4, and those are going to be air-conditioned buses. If you’re just a little bit too warm, you can go down and cool off,” said Mathis.

You can also go to Daily’s Place, where you can watch the game in the shade.

Water bottles will cost you $4, or you can get free water at any of the water fountains.

“At all of our permanent concession stands, you can request a small cup of ice and they will give that to you complimentary,” said Mathis.

Jeremy Wolfe said there’s another way to help make games more comfortable in the future.

“The team definitely deserves more prime-time games. The added benefit of that is maybe we can play at night,” he said.

The Jags encourage fans to not wait until you’re overheated to drink water or seek shade.
