Teen hurt in early-morning shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — An 18-year-old is recovering at a hospital following a shooting early Monday morning on the Eastside.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office responded just before 1 a.m. to a shooting in the 250 block of East 48th Street, near May Mann Jennings Park and a couple blocks east of Main Street.

The unidentified victim told officers he heard gunshot while walking across the railroad tracks and soon realized he was shot.

The victim is receiving treatment for a gunshot to the right forearm and cheek at UF Health Jacksonville.
