JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A rising girls' basketball star at Raines High School is recovering from being shot Monday afternoon.
Action News Jax sources say Teyana Carswell, a senior at Raines, was shot in the leg on West 9th Street.
An Allendale neighbor who asked not to be identified said the teen was lying in the road after the shooting, saying she just wanted to be able to play basketball.

"That's all she was saying: ‘I can't play basketball, I can't play basketball,'" said the neighbor. "So, I just was holding her, trying to calm her down, praying for her, and letting her know, God is able. You'll be able to play basketball again."
Carswell was named the Maxpreps Raines girls' basketball player of the year in 2018-19 season.
Police say she was shot in the leg around 2:30 p.m. Monday. JSO says the shooter is on the run, and investigators are looking for a red vehicle.
