Temperature following cold front in Jacksonville ahead of weekend

Get ready for a big change in our weather.  Showers will gradually work their way across our area today, ahead of a cold front.

Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says temps will be in the upper 70's Wednesday, before a noticeable drop.

“Cooler air will arrive overnight tonight and into the day tomorrow and we will not likely see temperatures reaching average again for at least the next five to six days and maybe longer.

This will easily be the longest stretch of below average temps that we’ve had in many, many months”, said Buresh.

Rain is also expected Thursday and Friday. Expect a few showers for Thursday, and longer periods of rain on Friday.

By the weekend we’ll see skies clear and the sun return.  Temps will not rebound much, however.
