Action News Jax Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says enough sun will help trigger a few strong storms, and we could see the greatest coverage of rainfall this week.

“Very heavy downpours in spots, frequent lightning, and an isolated strong to severe storm with hail and high winds will be a possibility”, Buresh said.

Everybody has seen at least some rain over the past five days.  A good example would be Nocatee, with at least two inches of rain in less than an hour on Tuesday.

“And then the Whitehouse area on I-10 west of Downtown had been sort of a hole in the showers and storms of recent days, got hammered in the evening hours with an inch of rain in about 30 minutes” Buresh said.
