Two young women hospitalized after ATV crash

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office traffic section and the major crimes unit are working to determine the cause of a late Friday night ATV crash that happened in St. Augustine.
 
Deputies, along with St. Johns County Fire-Rescue, initially responded to the area of Jackson Boulevard and Second Avenue in the Northeast District of the county after receiving reports of a crash involving a four-wheeler and an SUV.
 
Once at the scene, police determined that two girls were operating a four-wheeler in the area when they collided with the vehicle.
 
Officers tell Action News one of the juveniles, Ashley Dighton, 17, was airlifted to UF Health Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.
 
Police say the other girl, Shanna Devoe, 20 was ground transported to Flagler Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
According to the SJCSO, the driver of the SUV was not injured.
 
Detectives are continuing the investigation and charges are pending.
