Two Gainesville tree workers stranded in mid-air

GAINESVILLE, FLA. — When the Gainesville Fire Rescue Department was asked to respond to 2000 NW 27th Terrace Saturday morning, they found a -picker-type machine elevated about 50 feet in the air with two tree workers trapped in the malfunctioning bucket.

The workers say they cut down a tree limb that fell on the machine and cut power to the bucket.

The workers were not in danger, but they were stranded in mid-air.

Firefighters raised the rescue unit tower to the tree workers.

The men were safely removed from the bucket while traffic was blocked on 27th Terrance.
