UNF screening app released as part of reopening plan

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As part of their approved reopening plan for the fall semester, the University of North Florida will be using an app that will allow students, faculty, and staff to track symptoms before coming to campus.

The self-screening tool will be accessed through the UNF Safety Ospreys app and online.

To access the tool, click on COVID Resources and then click on the Daily Self-Screening tab. That will take the user to a survey where they will have to answer questions that include if the user has had any contact with anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days, if the user had any odd symptoms they cannot attribute to another condition, and if they have a temperature of 100.4 or greater. This survey is expected to be taken everyday users come to campus.

If responses indicate that users should self-isolate or quarantine, they will be asked to provide information to Human Resources or Student Health Services.

The COVID Resources tab in the app also has self-reporting sections for student and employees. Users can submit information on themselves or someone else if they have tested positive or have been exposed to COVID-19. There is also a COVID violations survey users can fill out if they witness anyone or any group not following COVID-19 safety guidelines like not following social distancing, not wearing a mask, or not reporting positive test results.

The university says specific medical data will not be collected or stored and the app is not meant to be used to diagnose or replace a trip to the doctor’s office.
