Two people, including a 9-year-old killed in Union County crash

UNION COUNTY, Fla. — Two people are dead, including a child, after a crash Wednesday night in Union County.

The Florida Highway Patrol said a white car was traveling north on State Road 121, just south of SW 119th Loop. A pickup truck was traveling south on the same road.

Troopers said the car turned left to enter a Dollar General parking lot, and “while turning left the white sedan traveled into the path of the pickup truck. The pickup truck’s front collided with the right side of the sedan,” the report stated.

The car’s passengers, a 9-year-old girl and a 54-year-old woman, both of Worthington Springs, died from their injuries.

FHP said the driver, a 53-year-old Worthington Springs man, was seriously injured.

After the collision, the pickup truck went into a ditch where it overturned.

Its 17-year-old Lake Butler driver is expected to be OK.

No one was wearing a seat belt, according to the crash report.
