U.S. Marshals arrest suspect in death of 2-year-old in Jacksonville

U.S. Marshals arrested a man suspected in the death of a 2-year-old in Jacksonville.

Officers said Brandon Michael Smith of North Carolina was transported to Jacksonville Tuesday and charged in the murder of 2-year-old Alayna Williamson.

Alayna was airlifted to the hospital in Jacksonville on March 22 with serious injuries.

She died of multiple blunt force traumas to the head, police said.

Investigation led officers to suspect Smith in her death.

U.S. Marshals located Smith in Fayetteville, North Carolina on March 28 and arrested him.
