U.S. Rep. Al Lawson’s statement on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

FLORIDA —

U.S. Representative Al Lawson (FL-05) released a statement Saturday morning on the passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

“We have lost an icon with the passing of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg. She was a woman only 5′1 in stature, but moved mountains to propel our nation forward. She was a trailblazer who paved the way for so many who have come after her. Justice Bader Ginsberg provided a platform for women, and fought to ensure they had a voice at the table. From gender discrimination to equal rights, America will forever be shaped for the better because of her.  My hope is the next person appointed to the seat has her same fundamental goals in mind.”

Justice Ginsburg passed away Friday at the age of 87.
