Vigil held for missing toddler Lonzie Barton

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — As police work around the clock to find little Lonzie Barton, his family and the community are coming together.

Saturday, people gathered at Baker Skinner Park to sing and pray for Lonzie’s return.

“My son is only four months older than Lonzie, and I couldn’t even imagine letting him out of my presence for five minutes,” said Katrina Jeffries.

Diena Thompson also showed up to pray for Lonzie. She said community support helped her stay strong after her daughter Somer was kidnapped and killed back in 2009.

Kayla Barton, who shares a father with Lonzie, traveled from Macclenny to show support at the vigil. She said she hasn’t seen her little brother in a while.

“We weren’t close but I feel like I still should be here for him, and show support for him,” said Barton.

JSO said the search for Lonzie will continue overnight.
