COVID-19: Ware County middle schoolers shifting to online learning due to staffing shortages

WARE COUNTY, Ga. — Middle school students in the Ware County School District will shift to online learning next week due to staffing shortages caused by COVID-19, the district announced Friday.

Students will return to school for classes on Monday, Nov. 30.

The school district released the following statement:

"Due to staffing shortages caused by COVID-19 exposure, both Ware County Middle School and Waycross Middle School will be closed the week of November 16-20, 2020. Middle school classes will shift to digital instruction, and middle school students will return to school on November 30th, 2020. All middle school athletic and extra-curricular activities will be canceled during the closure, effective immediately. Any further announcements will be shared through Facebook, our website, or Thrillshare.

“Affected staff members will receive additional information from their principals. The cooperation of staff members who are asked to quarantine will be helpful in avoiding any further closures.”
