JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars introduced Nick Foles as its new franchise quarterback on Thursday afternoon.
"This is going to be special," Foles said as he addressed the media.
Foles first arrived in Jacksonville on Wednesday night at Jacksonville International Airport and had a physical Thursday morning before heading to TIAA Bank Field.
The quarterback, who led the Philadelphia Eagles to a Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots in 2018, said it means a lot to him that the Jaguars believe in him.
"It's a special moment in my career and life to have a franchise believe in me. I've learned so much about who I am as a player and person so I'm just going to be myself," Foles said.
Jaguars Executive Vice President of Football Operations Tom Coughlin called the signing of Foles a "good day" for the team.
"Nick is the right person for our team and our community. He's a winner, faced adversity, but led his team to a Super Bowl," Coughlin said.
Foles said he looked forward to getting to know his teammates.
"There's so much talent here but bonding in the locker room is key. I'm a new player so I have to get to know everyone. We want to complicate football with x's and o's but most important part is relationships," Foles said.
While the city of Philadelphia means a lot to Foles and his family, he said he wants to finish his career as a Jaguar.
"This is where I want to finish my career. It's been a wild ride and we are so grateful for everything that's happened," Foles said.
