The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office identified the woman killed in a double shooting in the Highlands neighborhood.
Police said Jennifer Embree, 37, was shot and killed Thursday night inside a home on Pine Estates Rd. East during some sort of gathering.
Investigators said a man was also seriously injured in the shooting.

Action News Jax spoke exclusively to James Berry, the neighbor who called 911 after the male victim showed up on his doorstep around 11:15 p.m.
“Someone started beating on my front door and were yelling that they needed help. They had been shot,” Berry said. He didn't recognize the man.

Berry said the man was coherent and was able to get himself on the stretcher.
Relatives said the victim, who is a father of three, is in critical condition after being shot in the chest, neck, and the back of the head.
The police report does not list a suspect description. JSO said it’s an active investigation.
