Woman killed in wrong-way crash

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 49-year-old woman died in a single-vehicle crash Wednesday around 12:15 a.m.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, Barbara Herbert was driving north in southbound lanes of Cassat Avenue, north or Park Street.

The vehicle collided with a light pole on the southbound shoulder. Herbert was transported to UF Health Jacksonville where she later died from her injuries, according to her report.

JEA crews responded to the scene around 3:15 a.m. to install a new power pole, which is expected to take 4 to 5 hours to complete.
