Woman medically evacuated from cruise off Florida Coast

A Coast Guard helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., medically evacuated a 67-year-old woman from the cruise ship Carnival Fantasy 80 miles east of Ponce De Leon Inlet, Fla., Friday evening.
Officials tell Action News staff aboard the Fantasy requested a Coast Guard medevac and consulted with a Coast Guard flight surgeon, who recommended the woman be transferred immediately to a hospital since she was experiencing life-threatening symptoms consistent with previous medical complications.
The Clearwater aircrew hoisted the woman off the cruise ship and transferred her, her husband and a nurse to UF Health Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Fla.
