Woman's body found in St. Augustine, police say

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A woman's body was found at 790 Christina Drive in St. Augustine, police say.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, a report of a body floating in the Intracoastal Waterway near The Riverview Club came in around 8:30 a.m. St. Johns County Fire Rescue was able to launch a vessel into the water and locate the body.

The subject is described as a black female in her late-teens to late-20s, police say. She has been further identified as being 5'7" tall and 140 lbs., with a tattoo of a rose on her upper right thigh.

An investigation in ongoing as authorities work to idetify the remains, SJSO says.

Neighbors in St Augustine Shores are shaken up learning about the body found essentially in their backyards.

St. Augustine native, Ambra Wayne exclaims, "Absolutely shocking. I mean terrifying and so disturbing and sad."

"It's a shock it really, really is and I'm very sad to hear it," adds Virginia Hamblin, who lived in the Shores for 35 years.

Wayne adds the fact that police haven't been able to find out who it is, is the most heartbreaking of it all.

"We hope that the family has closure, and we pray for them and you know just hope that they can get through this tough time."
