Police: Woman with Jacksonville ties stole this expensive mower

The Bradford County Sheriff's wants the public to be on lookout for a woman connected to a fraud investigation.

Deputies went to Lazenby Equipment on July 14 in reference to a fraud investigation.

The investigation revealed that an unidentified woman came to the business and purchased a lawn mower and trailer valued at over $4,000.

But when the business tried to deposit the check, the business discovered the bank account was closed.

Deputies said the business that the woman claimed to represent did not appear to exist.

The Criminal Investigations Division is assisting in the investigation.

Investigators identified the woman as Elizabeth Margaret Childs.

Authorities conducted a criminal history check that revealed Childs has an extremely extensive history of fraud, uttering false instruments, false identity, grand theft, and other property crimes.

Childs has a total of six active felony warrants for those same charges from Duval County, Putnam County, and Baker County.

The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office said it has an active warrant for Childs' arrest.

The Sheriff's Office said it will charge Childs with Grand Theft, Scheming to Defraud, and Uttering a Forged Instrument., with a bond of $300,000.
