Women arrested in Flash Dancers undercover operation in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Judy Dorman lives in the same Lakeshore neighborhood where she watched her grandkids grow up.
She described, "It's a very, very old, historical area – very quiet 95% of the time."

Neighbors said the rest of the time, it's activity right down the road at Flash Dancers causing a commotion.

On Wednesday, six women were arrested at the gentlemen's club during an undercover sting targeting prostitution and drugs.

The women were charged with violating the adult entertainment code by simulating sexual activity.

"The school is not very far up the street, so that's a great concern. I'm a grandmother so I'm very protective," Dorman said.

In July, Action News Jax reported problems with a similar club on the Southside.

The city shut down Mascara's for unsafe conditions, including not having a sprinkler or fire system.

On Friday, Action News Jax asked the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for the number of adult entertainment violations issued since July, the start of this year and in 2018.

Those numbers will be posted here once the department sends a response.

Action News Jax's Beth Rousseau went inside Flash Dancers to talk with management.

General Manager Sean Bishop texted a statement that reads in part:

"In the United States someone is innocent until proven guilty the fact that they use intimidation factors coming into a club dressed in full combat gear with great attitudes and the leader of that group using foul language and attitude is extremely Unbecoming of a professional law enforcement."

Dorman said she appreciates the police officers in her neighborhood.

She explained: "I like to see them patrol the area. I like to see their vehicles around, sitting in the corner watching. It makes me feel more comfortable."

Bishop said he's pursuing legal action.

He claimed that under ordinance, officers can only ticket entertainers and are not supposed to arrest them for the previously mentioned violations.
