Wrecker driver dead after being hit by car

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A wrecker driver was killed after a semi side swiped a car he was attending to on Interstate 95 in St. Johns County.
 
The semi was driving south on Interstate 95 in the right lane while a Pontiac, which was in the emergency shoulder,  was being looked at by Kit Tappen, of St. Augustine, Florida. 

Tappen was called, by the driver, to look at the car and was standing near the rear of the car.
 
The semi ran over the white lines and side swiped the car, causing it to hit Tappen.
 
Tappen was transported to UF Health, where he died from his injuries.
