Man convicted in 2012 murder, armed robbery

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Justin Kyle Footman was found guilty as charged for his involvement in the 2012 shooting death of 19-year-old Tommy Girarde McDowell Jr.  Footman, 25 years old, was convicted on charges of murder in the first degree and armed robbery.

Footman and his two co-defendants met and planned to rob McDowell’s cousin of some marijuana.  When Footman arrived at the cousin’s house, he shot McDowell in the chest.

The defendant then took the drugs and left. Footman could face life in prison and will be sentenced the week of July 28.
