Nearly 1,000 jobs coming to Jacksonville starting in 2019

Even though unemployment is low in Jacksonville, Shania Spiller is struggling to find work, she said Monday.
The recent college grad told Action News Jax her bills are piling up.
“The gas is increasing, so you’ve go to pay for that. You’ve got to pay for your water bills, your electric bills, you know, and insurance. So, that’s been kind of hard."

In March 2018, Action News Jax reported on Jinko Solar’s future warehouse at Cecil Commerce Center.
The company is expected to invest $50 million and bring 200 jobs.
The project is one of nine approved by City Council last year.
The City of Jacksonville sent a list showing the projects and how many jobs each is bringing – a total of 945.

Spiller said, “If they have more jobs it will definitely bring better people here I’ll say that much.”

According to Spiller she’s happy to hear jobs are on the way, but hopes it doesn’t end there.

While “900 jobs is OK ... you definitely need to start bringing more jobs into Jacksonville to make the city thrive,” she said.
