Off-duty Jacksonville Burger King worker who prepped food has been fired

The Jacksonville Burger King employee who prepared her own food while she was out of uniform is out of the job.

Action News Jax first told you Wednesday that a woman broke the line at a Dunn Ave. Burger King and began making her own food.

Other customers stood by in disbelief as the woman started making her own food when she got tired of waiting in line.

"She definitely, she had it her way," one customer said. "She didn’t even wash her hands."

The siblings told Action News Jax that employees and a woman who appeared to be the manager didn't seem to try to stop the woman.

"I said, 'No, you’re not about to fix my food. You’re not in uniform,'" another customer stated.

The Burger King franchisee quickly fired a manager at that location and the off-duty worker.

"This should not have happened and as soon as the owner of this location was made aware of this incident, the franchise owner terminated the team member and manager for violating their company policies," Burger King said in a statement.
