The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says a man is dead after he stole a deputy's Jeep and overturned it into a yard on King Estate Road.

A woman was also in the stolen Jeep and survived the crash. Both people in the Jeep were ejected. The woman who survived was identified as Adel Marie Shinn, 38, of St. Augustine. The male driver has not been identified because his next of kin has not been notified.

The Jeep was the deputy's personal vehicle and was stolen from a residence in St. Augustine. The call of the reported theft came in shortly before 7 a.m.

Chopper video from Sky Action News Jax showed the black Jeep on its side by some trees in a front yard. Workers uprighted the Jeep and hauled it away hours after the crash.
