GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Two football players for the University of Florida were arrested in connection with shooting BB guns into a campus residential building.
Campus police responded on July 15 at about 11:30 p.m. to a report of property damage. Police found small holes in the tempered glass panels of a door and two windows of the Keys Residential Complex on the UF campus.
Surveillance video shows two men shooting BB guns at about 6:45 p.m. Friday at someone in the building, according to police.
The men were identified by their ID cards as freshman receivers Tyrie Cleveland, 18, and Rick Wells, 18. Both admitted to police that they shot into the building with a BB gun, police said.
Their BB guns were handed over to authorities.
Cleveland and Wells were charged early Monday morning with criminal mischief for damaging property worth more than $1,000 and shooting a missile inside an occupied dwelling.
Wells is from Jacksonville and went to Raines High School. Cleveland is a Jacksonville native who moved to Houston and finished his high school career there, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
