Live roaches, flies found by inspectors at Italian restaurant in Jacksonville

In this week’s original Restaurant Report, Action News Jax reporter Ben Becker tells you about what inspectors found at local places.

He paid a visit to Carrabba’s Italian Grill on Blanding Boulevard near I-295 to discuss an inspection.

State inspectors found 20 live roaches under a soda dispenser, 12 live flies in the kitchen and potentially hazardous food temperatures.

The restaurant was temporarily closed. Becker spoke to the manager who said the place is safe to eat at.

Okinawa Japanese Grillhouse on Roosevelt Boulevard near San Juan Avenue was cited for 17 live roaches under a grill, raw animal food not separated and stored food not covered. It was also temporarily closed.

At Tipicos Antojitos, a food truck on University Boulevard near Santa Monica Boulevard, inspectors said it had six rodent droppings, potentially hazardous food temperatures and food stored in a prohibited area.

It was temporarily closed.

Gregory Paul’s on 4th Avenue South near A1A was cited for potentially hazardous food temperatures, raw animal food not properly separated and employee personal items stored in the food prep area.
