Restaurant Report: Some local restaurants violate Florida governor’s executive order, inspectors say

The original Restaurant Report is back now that restaurants have been allowed to reopen with restrictions.

In this week’s report, Action News Jax’s Ben Becker tells you about violations that inspectors found at Jacksonville area restaurants.

Becker paid a visit to Brickstone Pizza & Subs on State Road 13 near Race Track Road.

According to state inspectors, before restrictions were lifted, they discovered 10 to 15 people eating and drinking at the bar, violating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ COVID-19 executive order. Ceiling tiles were also soiled with accumulated food debris and raw animal food was stored over ready-to-eat food.

Les Davis, the restaurant’s owner, told Becker they are now taking steps to not slip up again.

Kitchen 251 on Creekside Drive near the First Coast Expressway was cited for customers eating on the premises, a coronavirus pandemic violation, inspectors said. They also found potentially hazardous food temperatures and raw animal foods not properly separated.

At Brewer’s Pizza on Blanding Boulevard near Argyle Forest Boulevard, inspectors said they discovered 20 live roaches near cans of food, the interior of a microwave was soiled and hot water was not provided at employee sink.

Thai Cuisine & Noodle House on San Jose Boulevard near Loretto Road was cited for a dish machine sanitizer not at proper strength, potentially hazardous food temperatures and cutting boards that were soiled.
