St. Augustine Police Officer saves man’s life from drowning

St. Augustine, FL. — On Feb. 15th, Officer Argitis was conducting a traffic stop on Anastasia Blvd when he over heard on the scanner from St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office that a man possibly had a seizure and drove his wheelchair into a pond.

Officer Argitis quickly ended his traffic stop and responded to the pond behind the Gate gas station off Mizell Rd.

He was the first on the scene and quickly found the man facedown in the pond.

He managed to pull the man out of the water onto dryland.

Fire Rescue arrived and determined the man did have a seizure and was transported to Flagler Hospital.

Without the quick actions taken by Officer Argitis this man could have drowned.
